We drove most of the day until we reached Joshua Tree, California. We had been there several times before, but we had always entered from the North. This time we came in through the South entrance. Jason wanted to try the Pinkerton Canyon Trail to Thermal Canyon. As the dirt road became narrower and narrower, we changed our minds. We didn’t want to pinstripe (scratch) the sides of earthroamer. Driving (carefully) back to the ranger station, we asked if there were any WIDER dirt roads. The ranger recommended we try the Geologic Drive and peel off at the end on a 4WD road.
On the way we had fun photographing the snow swirling around the road and the desert scene in snow.
The Geologic Drive was great and we found ourselves alone with the Joshua Trees in Pleasant Valley for the night.
It was very cold about 28 when we went to bed.
I’m looking for a nickname for the Earthroamer. I often use ER, but that may be confusing to some readers. “Urthy” sounds silly. Jason didn’t like “The Beast.” I’m still thinking on this. I suspect that if Jason didn’t like “The Beast” he wouldn’t like “The Big Rolling Beast.”
