The drive from Scotty’s Castle to Eureka Dunes took about 4 hours. The mountains on the way up from Crankshaft Junction were very striking. The last 10 miles of road was badly washboarded. The vibrations popped open a beer bottle, a water jug, and a milk jug.

| We stopped along the road before the mine when we started seeing chuckwallas on the rocks. Here we caught the biggest Chuckwalla of the trip. These guys can live to be 70 years old. |
